Karaoke…on a cell phone. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today’s technology. Qmobile, a company that provides services for wireless carriers and cell phone users….is readying a new application….mobile karaoke. VP Steve Chaffin…
”It’s really an extension of mobile music.” With specific carriers on this? “Well, we’re just in the preliminary stage. We’re finalizing some of our arrangements with the carriers. We have file briefs and it will eventually be available on all the different carriers.”
The idea is you download a file to your phone that contains both the music and the lyrics to the song….and then when the spirit moves you… (sound) Instead of talking on the phone while you’re walking down the street…you can be singing. About the price, Chaffin says…
“We focus on subscription mobile content services. So it will be a 9.99 service. And it will be similarly priced to our polyphonic ring tones. It will be 9.99, 15 downloads for 9.99 a month.”
Coming soon to a wireless carrier near you. Qmobile currently has services offered through Verizon Wireless, Cingular, T Mobile, Nextel and others. Bloomberg Boot Camp, I’m Fred Fishkin.
