Sharing those family videos online. Bloomberg Boot Camp, a report on today’s technology. With more and more digital cameras and even cell phones capable of taking pretty decent video as well as still images…how do you share those videos with friends and family? Some email services…such as Google’s Gmail…allow big file attachments. Another free alternative is being offered by Grouper Networks. It offers software and technology…for sharing videos publicly or privately. CEO Josh Felser says once you download the free software…
”Plug in your camera, into your PC like you would normally do, Grouper pops up. It asks you if you want to take those photos and put them onto your hard drive. Then it asks you if you want to edit those photos or videos. If you say yes, we have a very simple editing software that lets you edit your videos. One more step is show it to your friends and family. And you click on a group that you would have created. It’s shared, and your friends and family get an invitation to from you to go view that video.”
While short clips of public videos are stored on Grouper’s servers, most of the sharing is done peer to peer…meaning you need to have your computer on with a high speed Internet connection for this to work….
”It’s not a technology that consumers need to understand. What it does is…it allows me to connect directly to any of my friends and family without a middleman.”

よくわからないんですが、
おもしろハプニングの映像が撮れれば、多くの人に見てもらいたいだろうし、
そういう場合、ビデオを共有するっていうのは、いいでしょうね。
もちろん、非公開にして、知り合いに知らせるだけでもいいでしょうしね。
P2Pで動画ファイルをサイト自体が持たずにやるっていうのも、すごいですね。
